Dear BC United Family:

The Winter season is coming to a wrap, with practices wrapping at St. John the Baptist next week. Though the weather did not cooperate in January in Morgantown, the Club still had success in tournament season in November and December. In our weather-shortened debut in Lancaster, the 2008 Boys took home a gold medal and the 2009 Boys took home silver. More importantly, however, was that the 2007 Girls "tied" for second place, sitting at #2 in the semi-final seeding, the 2007 Boys made it through to the semi-finals, and the 2009 Girls controlled their own destiny to medal with two games remaining on Sunday. The players exceeded our expectations!

In December in Morgantown, the 2008 Boys again took home gold, while the 2007 and 2009 Boys nabbed silver medals. Progress amongst all of the teams has been apparent, and we expect wonderful play from the teams heading to Youngstown and Kent State in February and March.

There is plenty of news about the Spring season, all recapped below. Please take the time to read about the Spring Program:

  • Spring practices kick off the week of March 19th - look for more information on Team Stuff coming soon.
  • We've expanded our Coaching Staff!  Colton Bly starts as our new Director of Coaching in March.
  • Colton will coach our inaugural BC United High School girls team. If you know any high school-aged girls who are looking for a competitive environment without the classic soccer costs, let them know about our program.
  • Our first Spring event will be the weekend of March 24th-25th, and it will be held all within Beaver and Butler county. Walter and Colton have worked very hard to put together a Spring tournament with strong competition without the travel!
  • Lastly, Spring will wrap up in Hershey at the Hershey Memorial Day Challenge held in and around Hershey, PA over Memorial Day weekend. We once again are looking for parents to volunteer as Team Managers to help coordinate hotels and activities. Let us know if you are interested.
Let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks,

Derek
